Studies
The fifth grade
program is designed to provide students with a
basic understanding of history,geography,
economics, and civics. The historical studies of
Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece or
Rome, the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and a
contemporary African, Asian, or Latin American
society is designed to help students understand the
changing relationship between human beings and
their environment, past and present, and to
appreciate the diverse beliefs that influence human
beings. Thinking skills of comprehension,
interpretations, research, chronological thinking,
problem-solving, and decision-making are infused
throughout the program.
