Fourth graders study the history, geography, culture, and economics of Virginia. Students use a variety of sources including textbooks, maps, artifacts, primary sources, audiovisual materials, and technology to enhance their learning.

Two of Miss Archibald's students learn how to use a map index to locate Virginia's national parks.

Young historians find out that the Roanoke River is located near Roanoke, Virginia.

These young men locate James Madison University on a Virginia map. They find it by using the index.

Students locate cities on a world map by using degress of latitude and longitude.
Students learn to use a map legend to locate major cities and parks in Virginia.
