Mr. Swoger and Mrs. Morgan ![]() Students who attend the ED School Based Program at Kings Glen are those who have been found eligible for Emotional Disabilities or Other Health Impairments, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Some of these students also have additional disabilities, such as Learning Disabilities. The goal of the School Based program is to teach the students classroom and social skills needed to be successful in and return to a regular, grade level classroom. The hope is that each student will be mainstreamed for all nonacademic activities and at least one academic subject. These mainstreaming will be increased as the students acquire the necessary skills and experience success. This program is viewed as a stepping stone between Center Based and Resource ED Programs. Students who have emotional disabilities are those who demonstrate a serious emotional disturbance as evidenced by one or more of the following characteristics over a long period of time and to a marked degree, which adversely affects educational performance:
The term includes children who are schizophrenic. The term does not include children who socially maladjusted, unless it is determined that they are seriously emotionally disturbed. For further information go to FCPS ED programs. |
