The students in the Non-Categorical Education (NCE) are those who have multiple disabilities. They receive Learning Disabilities (LD) services int he NCE classroom but may also receive services from one or more of the following: the Speech and Language Teacher, the Autism Resource Teacher, the Emotional Disabilities Resource Teacher and/or the Occupational Therapist. All the students in the program are either mainstreamed or integrated into a regular grade level classroom for part of their day. An instructional assistant is available to aid the students in both their mainstream classroom and their NCE classroom. The NCE students are taught on their individual academic level and work on social skills needed to increase their amount of time in their mainstreamed classroom. All students in this program are working on Individual Education Program (IEP) goals developed by both the staff and their parents. For more information go to the FCPS Special Education page.
