The Speech and Language clinician provides speech and language program services to students with oral communication disorders in articulation, language, voice, and fluency. The clinician's mission is to provide speech/language instruction that enables students to become effective communicators by strengthening listening, speaking, reading, writing, and social skills. These services are provided to students (preschool-grade12) within the entire range of abilities and impairments who are enrolled in general or special education programs. Full program services include screening, evaluation, providing direct intervention, integrated, class/curriculum-based intervention and collaborating with teachers, staff, students, and family members to plan, implement and deliver services. Classroom teachers and the speech and language clinician are expected to support each other in meeting the academic needs of students including the communication of speech/language concerns for all students, providing input on classroom performance, and scheduling services.
