Band instruction at Kings Glen is offered
to all students in 5th and 6th grade. Students may begin an
instrument in either grade and may continue with band
through middle school and high school. Most students begin
in 5th grade by joining the Beginning Band on one of the
following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet,
Trombone/Baritone, Percussion. Students who continue with
band in 6th grade on the same instrument play in the
Advanced Band and have the opportunity to play in Area Band,
a select group of students from several elementary schools
in the Lake Braddock pyramid. Beginning Band Advanced
Band Instruction in band incorporates the use of the Vivace Practice Studio, by Coda Music Technology, a computer based program that plays accompanying backgrounds for our method book, The 21st Century Band Method. By using this system in class, students can hear how their music should sound before attempting to play. We can also adjust the tempo of each exercise so students can practice at slower tempi and then increase speed as proficiency develops. Currently, this method book system is available for The 21st Century Band Method, Book 1. |
