Activity: The Human Skeleton. 4-6 Grade P.E. Concept: Naming the major bones in the skeletal system. Purpose: To familiarize the student with naming the bones of the skeletal system. The student is to know layman and medical terms of each of the predetermined bones. Materials needed: Apple G3 Computer Worksheet with Skeleton Diagram Marking Pen or Pencil Class block folder/1 per block Description of Activity / Tasks: Students will be divided into small groups to report to the computer station. They will find a web site book marked for the activity. Students will click on "Bones Narrated" to hear a story about human bones. Next students will click on "Build a Skeleton" and they will click on various bones on the screen to construct a skeleton. When complete the skeleton will clap. If time is available they may click on "Zoom In" to view a specific bone and name. They will place their name and teachers name on the work sheet and place it in the class block folder located at the station. Rotate groups as a regular station rotation, every 5 minutes. Teaching Tips: This instructional strategy may be used when teaching any Health unit with a fair to large amount of concepts and terms for students to learn. PE Home |
